“Dear Martin” is a novel which drove me crazy. The brutality of the unspoken truth took the earth beneath my feet. This is a novel I respect a lot. It stimulated my mentality. “Dear Martin” made me see deeper into the essence of the problem. This book makes you want to scream, fight and also cry….all of them in just 10 seconds. I absolutely recommend it! 🙂

A Sneak Peek into “Dear Martin”
Deeper into “Dear Martin”
The place of action is pretty restrict: we neither get to meet many characters. Even so, the story is consistent and straight on the point. The novel is built as a little society, with its own problems and judgmental errors.
The protagonist is confronting many problems which will have a word to say in his self-development. He is thought to be positive discriminated, therefore I really loved Sarah-Jane’s speech. She talked about equality of chances. A poor top student is more valuable than a spoiled one.

There are many controversial discussions that gave me goose bumps. It is hard to read speeches like Jared’s, about how America is so safe for people no matter their race. He says that a black boy who died in Nevada consumed drugs, therefore he dares to judge him, not caring he recently consumed, as well. People tend to judge without looking at themselves. Are you thinking now about the facts?

The documentation for the book is more than impressing. Justyce will use everything he has to prove the world was wrong. The facts and the numbers are depressing, he thinks that people should wake up and see the obvious. Black people have the same rights as white ones.
Some people believe their word is the law itself. Officer Tison hurts the boys without any regret when the circumstances are given. Many lies will suddenly appear between the truth and their “reality”. The primary “clue” against the boys is their gangster appearance and even a picture, taken as a joke, gets used in court.
Justyce tried to follow Martin’s life style. To find justice and speak out. Nevertheless, the right choice for the boy was to follow his own advice. To learn from his own experiences. To make his life count and dare to ask questions. Maybe he would change something in the end.
