Christmas is getting closer every day. The most wonderful time of the year, snowy and warm. The cozy days spent inside with a great book. Christmas is about family time, joy, snow, innocence and… movies!
Every year, I spend my December weekends watching Christmas movies together with my family. Some of them might be too sappy sometimes, but during this time of the year they are the greatest:) It might be the Christmas which makes them magical. I’ve made a selection of top five Christmas movies, inspired by books, which you must watch as soon as possible! Get your family and friends, bring your popcorn and let’s get started ππ
“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms”
Honestly, it’s my favorite Christmas movie when it comes to magical atmosphere! The story is pure and enchanting, full of adventure. It defines, in a playful and magical way, the protagonist’s growing up journey. The plot is similar with the one illustrated in the Barbie cartoon “Barbie in the Nutcracker”, if you are one of the kids who grew up with it, as I did:) I certainly was in love with the magic allure of the story, all the amazing fictional characters and… the world presented in it as the total overview.
“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” was really a pleasure for me to watch, reminding me of my childhood’s Christmases. It was inspired by the book “The Nutcracker”, written by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann. Nevertheless, I need to mention that as opposed to the book story, which narrates Marie Stahlbaum’s magical journey, the movie is designed as the continuation of her story. The nutcracker is given, as legacy, to her daughter, Clara, together with the great adventure it brought. She followed in her mother’s footsteps, being needed to save The Four Realms. Magic, tin soldiers, dolls and every possible toy is brought back to life in this amazing Christmas movie.

“A Boy Called Christmas”
Speaking of which… “A Boy Called Christmas” is the best family Christmas movie I’ve ever watched! Nothing is ordinary about this movie. Magic gets a total new meaning with this one story:) It is about belief, many magical days and nights and the legend of exactly Santa Claus. It is not only a great time, but a happy moment for your heart. You will feel again the childhood’s joy for Christmas with this one amazing movie, inspired by the book “A Boy Called Christmas” by Matt Haig! The perfect one to watch together with your family or friends, no matter your age. You’re never too old for a worthy Christmas movie:)

“Let It Snow”
I simply loved this winter movie. It has everything you would want to see in a Christmas movie for teenagers. Humor, friendship and love. Let’s not forget about the little plot twists that only made the action juicier:) The movie “Let It Snow” was inspired by the incredible book with the same title, written by John Green. The story is purely great and full of unexpected. Teenage love and dreamy hearts π€

“Dash and Lily”
This one story has been and will always be one of my core memories. I don’t really know a certain reason for it, but its purity and originality. I’ve read it when I was younger and it just became my favorite winter TV series:) So much humor and natural characters, like a funny story heard at the Christmas family dinner. Love is simple and beautiful, and “Dash and Lily” doesn’t try to complicate it.
I also liked the little treasure hunt…or better said dares hunt? Lily left a red notebook in a local library, which would be soon found by Dash. Talking through a notebook? Great! Talking with the help of little games and hidden messages? Even greater! I really recommend you watching this TV series, which was inspired by the book “Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares” by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. I admit I couldn’t stick to the rule “only movies”:) This TV series matched just too well the vibe of this Christmas, so why not mention it as well?!:)

“The Noel Diary”
“The Noel Diary” is a 2022 Christmas movie. I enjoyed it, considering the story truly sweet. It is an easy movie, which will get you through the problem of forgiving and regaining the Christmas spirit. I think it’s a great movie adaptation of the book “The Noel Diary” by Richard Paul Evans. Lots of romantic little moments and gestures which transform the male protagonist in a believer, when Christmas was only another basic day for him. Love changes the person, but also the soul. “The Noel Diary” is a really great movie, perfect to be watched with your boyfriend/girlfriend or family π€
