I enjoyed” Through My Window” for its simple and lovely story line. The book is an easy-read and the scenes are catchy. There is humor at every page! The characters can easily become your friends. Especially the Greek God we all know and love.

The summary of “Through My Window”
Everything has started with the Wi-Fi password and Raquel’s stubbornness. She had always had a crush on her neighbor’s middle son, Ares Hidalgo. But he is rich and popular and she is not. She is pretty sure he does not even know her name.
Well, nothing is going to be the same anymore. He knows for sure who she is and their worlds will collide eventually. He has stolen internet connection from her. She is definitely going to get her revenge. Will they fall in love on the way?
The action of “Through My Window”
There are many memorable scenes which give the book a special air. The night club going out. Hidalgo’s pool party. The discussion between Yoshi and Raquel. Every moment is well developed. The characters seem to act in balance with the scenes. Exactly the right amount of time. Sometimes, everything risks to be clisheic. But it makes you have a good laugh, at least. The humor is the key for every girl’s heart. Some of the book’s romantic scenes even made me emotional. I really appreciate a book which can entertain me lightly and simply.
Anyhow, avoid having huge expectations on this book. It is far from being a masterpiece. It started as a Wattpad story. So the book reaches its original goal: being a sappy romance. And it introduces Ares to you. The dark bad boy that needs to be fixed.
The characters of “Through My Window”
The main characters seem to be disproportionate. Raquel loves to the point in which she technically gives her heart out. She accepts being bullied if that means receiving attention from Ares. He is automatically in the posture of being the chased one. The one who receives validation. This thing destroyed my impression on them. Ruined it. Love makes us weak and maybe fools sometimes. Nevertheless, not to the point of giving away our dignity and principles.
Somehow, in the end, we see Ares’s character development. From the cruel, rebel guy to the man who aspires to believe in love. In happiness and second chances received from life (or Raquel). Some great and ironical friendships are blooming.
Conclusion
I don’t really recommend this book. The movie is better and juicier when we are talking about the plot. This novel is the right choice on a summer hot and boring day. But not if you have a better choice. It is pretty obvious that it is actually a commercial book.
Comparison to the movie
When you start reading the book, for a better experience, try to forget everything you have seen in the movie. They have almost nothing in common. The movie is more compacted and the action is far more dramatic. Even if it’s poorer than in the book. It presents us a whole different version of Hidalgo family, a lot more intrigue.
But the book has far more scenes described and the action is presented in a more intensive and highlighted manner. So for a complete experience with Raquel and Ares, I recommend you reading firstly the book and then watching the movie, which is fantastic in comparison.
