This kind of authors are simply the ones who make our hearts tremble with each new book release. I had a fantastic time writing this post and thinking about the authors, and the stories, that formed me as a book blogger. β
Thank you for writing, thank you for offering us unforgettable stories!β
Jennifer L. Armentrout
There was no more appropriate way of starting this top 3, but with the author who was my actual inspiration for starting this incredible journey in the world of blogging. She succeeded enchanting the younger me with all of her magnificent and incredible fantasy worlds she created.
I was delighted to read almost all of her books, each time with joy and hope. In the end, I know why I became one of her loyal readers. I must admit that my expectations regarding her new releases were really high each time. Generally, I was pleasantly surprised and not even a bit disappointed.
What I love most about her fantasy/science-fiction books is her talent in creating those great completely new worlds. I was thrilled, in the best way possible, to discover the great and unexpected connections she formed between her characters and their “enemies” in the “Lux” series. She twisted the action so much, so contrasting each time, that the tiniest detail would’ve stolen my breath. Not to mention the “demon hierarchy” she created in her “Dark Elements” series, which I found so perfect in the overview, It simply completed the story, being a small, but significant detail. Even though I have read most of her work, these two previously mentioned book series are, as expected, the dearest to me.
Marie Lu
Marie Lu, for me, is the Queen of Fantasy. It simply astonishes me how far she’s willing to take her stories. She offers them tension, emotional moments, honesty, adrenaline, suspense and, most of all, she’s offering them parts of her heart. Each time I read one of her books, I feel like it’s not only the story, but also her implication, all the heart she put in those stories and characters. There has been not even one time when her books bored me or disappointed me in any way.
Starting one of her books, I already know it’s going to be an unforgettable experience. From “Warcross” duology that caught me irreversibly in the game, to “The Legend” trilogy that gave me goosebumps through each chapter, keeping me on the edge, to “The Young Elites” trilogy that got me going through an emotional carrousel. Pain, sadness, amusement, excitement and fear. All these great books were exactly the kind of stories perfect to get me out of my comfort zone as a reader. After reading this kind of books, all the other stories seem too simple, too… shapeless. I became addicted to these stories and characters.
I’m grateful Marie Lu ended these series the way she did. No matter how much I would’ve loved reading more about these characters’ adventures, great stories are never too long.
E. Lockhart
E. Lockhart will forever be one of the most meaningful authors for me. Her book “We Were Liars” showed me the world in different shades of the colors I used to think I know. I gained a new perspective upon what surrounds us day by day.
Some things can’t be put into words, but only felt and seen. You can’t describe “We Were Liars” and put into words what this book really is about, but only read it and interpret it yourself. E. Lockhart has all my admiration for writing, especially, these two great eventful books, “We Were Liars” and “Family of Liars”, which I’ll keep coming back to.
Her place is right in this top 3 post, because there’s no other book that succeeded remaining for so long in the back of my mind like her book “We Were Liars” did. It was about deepness, adrenaline, lies and mistakes. It was about the essence, not the appearances. Dare to see deeper in someone’s eyes and soul!
