“We’ll Always Have Summer” is the sequel of “It’s Not Summer Without You”. This volume meant the try to repair the past mistakes, the gratitude for the true deep feelings. You can feel the breeze of Cousins, the cold water of the pool at night and the memories which were flashing behind Belly’s eyes. This book is one of the best summer readings for me, the quotes are incredible and the moments unforgettable.

The infinity
The infinity symbol has always had a significant meaning for me and occupied an important part of my soul. For me, it is about beliefs, feelings and memories. It’s about the wish of feeling infinite.
Technically, from my point of view, when Conrad gave Belly the infinity necklace it was the symbol of his love for her, the fact that life will change and get them in unexpected places with unexpected people, but they and their love would be a constant. The infinity meant his hope for Belly to be there forever, to love him still like at the beginning. When they were together, they were infinite, nothing mattered anymore.

Sneak peek
After Conrad encouraged Belly and Jeremiah to be together and gave them his blessing, they are getting ready for their wedding. Jeremiah has just proposed to Belly and there’s no other better place to tell everyone than Collins itself. Even so, Conrad finally realizes how wrong he was to hide his feelings from Belly.
He has thrown harsh words and can’t take them back, but he could have tried to give an explanation. What will Belly choose in the end? For her, Conrad was her first love and the one who had the past Belly, but Jeremiah had the present and the future one.
“𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐠𝐮𝐧, 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝𝐥𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐜𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭.”

The action
This volume is narrated subjectively by Jeremiah and Belly. As I have already started to “hate” Jeremiah, it was challenging for me to read about his relationship with Belly and how „much” he loved her. It’s literally words VS actions! His actions speak for themselves. It was a great idea for the author to give us a little view inside Jeremiah’s mind through the chapters from his point of view.
The reading was so emotional, we get to see a little more about the relationship between the Conklin siblings and Conrad finally has THE realization, a little too late maybe, but… I enjoyed all the good moments: The Christmas, the necklace moment and all of Belly’s day dreams.
A little silence, please, for our boy, Conrad, who realized how crazy and foolish he acted only a day before her wedding!!! Honestly, I feel like Connie is actually my best friend. That’s how involved I was in this story! The plot twists are crazy and the replies… the best! Go, Steven!!!
” ‘𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲. 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭, 𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐲? 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮. 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲?’ 𝐈 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐝. ‘𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 ‘𝐆𝐨 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞.’ “

This is a personal thing, not something I considered wrong about the book!!! When I’ve read the synopsis of the book and the moment in which Conrad and Belly are at the car and he asks her if she’s sure (you’ll find out what she was supposed to be ready for when you read the book), I wanted her to run away with him!!! It would’ve been so dramatic, romantic and… worthy of movies… ♥
The letters
When Conrad wrote the letters, he signed “Conrad” and that’s all. Nevertheless, in the last letter he signed “Love, Conrad”!!! It’s absolutely genius! He missed her so much and desired to get a second chance. He literally was the cold hearted guy with a soft spot for her. It’s a cute little detail you would not normally observe, but which deserves your attention. Jenny Han kept my attention absolutely to the last page of the book.
The characters
Connie is so sweet and he certainly becomes a “simp” at the end of the book. The letters he wrote to Belly are touching and a little funny. Boys are something when they fall in love. He really became a young mature and independent young man. He follows his dreams and respects his promise to take care of his little brother, but will he really sacrifice his happiness for this?
Belly starts her journey as a young woman who eventually begins to think maturely enough. Not the fact that she was technically on the edge of marrying at eighteen years old. (It’s a matter of opinions and choices here. I don’t judge anyone! Everyone has the right to his/her own life choices. The only thing that matters is to be happy.)
It’s just the fact that everyone who loved her and Jeremiah tried to explain to them that this kind of choice is not the one to make at such a young age and, especially, when he’s a cheater!!! The end highlights the fact that after all, she didn’t choose a boy, but herself. This is my favorite thing about the ending!
Jeremiah gets worse and worse. I was grossed when I read his chapters. Man, you’re a cheater! You certainly don’t love her enough or at all. That proposal was born from the despair of losing her for good, not from love.
In the end, the story presented us the lives of some teenagers who fought life, destiny and death together. Collins is their true home, every summer, every time. That’s the place where everything has begun and everything will end.
Welcome home, guys!
