1. “If We Were Villains” by M.L. Rio

– read the whole book review –

“If We Were Villains” is the poetic and painful beautiful side of darkness. A siren song, tempting you to sure loss: mesmerizing, and yet deadly. Its expressivity is intoxicating, and the secrets dramatic.

Genre: Dark Academia

Age Rating: +15

Star Rating: 4.4/5

2. “Dear Martin” duology by Nic Stone

– read the whole book review –

“Dear Martin” is a novel which drove me crazy. The brutality of the unspoken truth took the earth beneath my feet. This is a novel I respect a lot. It stimulated my mentality. “Dear Martin” made me see deeper into the essence of the problem. This book makes you want to scream, fight and also cry….all of them in just 10 seconds. I absolutely recommend it!

Number of volumes: 2

Genre: YA

Age Rating: +14

Star Rating: 4.5/5

3. “Off-Campus” series by Elle Kennedy

The action, the ironical replies, the characters’ personality were all special. If we’re talking about their replies…the fire is burning so dangerously, but I would risk it all for that kind of chemistry.

Number of volumes: 4 main volumes

Genre: Romance

Age Rating: +15

Star Rating: 4/5

4. “Where the World Ends” by Geraldine McCaughrean

– read the whole book review –

“Where The World Ends” is a novel about pain & loneliness, a book that will teach you how you can lose everything you’ve loved and known through an illusion of adventure. A journey of gathering resources can transform into a game of holding on to life, a journey that will bring home men, not kids anymore.

Number of volumes: standalone

Genre: Historical Fiction

Age Rating: +15

Star Rating: 4.5/5

5. “One of Us Is Lying” series by Karen McManus

Karen McManus is the queen of thrillers from my point of view. “One of Us Is Lying” is an unforgettable book for sure. I think no movie adaptation would truly be able to capture the originality of this story.

Genre: Thriller

Age Rating: +15

Star Rating: 4.8/5
